Not dead yet

Helloooo. I am not dead, and I have not failed out. I just am a terrible blogger and probably should never even have teased you all with this wonderful blog name. I am almost done with my 3rd year of veterinary school and am about to begin clinics. I'm excited and scared at the same time, but I also have some final exams to take-so I promise I will try to post again soon about how great/awful/challenging vet school has been for this old lady.

  1. Hi,
It's so great to here you're doing well in vet school! :) i just finished my ph.D and am also considering a career change to veterinary medicine. I feel old compared to all the other applicants. Moreover, I never realized it would be so hard to gain the animal experience I need to apply. Currently, I am volunteering at the Humane Society and a farm. But I was unable to find any volunteers/shadows/ part time position in a veterinary clinic. Most of the clinics view me as a liability and the ones that do offer volunteer or internship positions require you to be enrolled in school. As a person that has already gone through all that,do you have any suggestions? I feel like I'm running into so many walls here and its frustrating.. :/

    1. Wow i have completely neglected this blog. I am now a working vet and everything is as it should be.

I had a classmate who had just finished her PhD also-her science background and volunteer work was sufficient for the veterinary school application-at least for my school-they are all different. I hope you found what you were looking for!
